(a)      Define classical concerto.

  (b)      State the three movements in a classical concerto.

(c)      Identify any six solo instruments that are usually employed in the performance of a
     classical concerto.

Observation

Over 50% of the candidates totally avoided this question maybe because it was not compulsory while the rest that attempted it couldn’t perform well due to ignorance of the syllabus and poor preparation. 
                                                                                                                                                                    
They were expected to have defined classical concerto as

  •      a large work for a solo instrument and the orchestra and stated the three movements in a classical concerto as
  •      fast – slow – fast  
  •  The following are the solo instruments usually employed in the performance of a classical concerto: piano, violin, cello, bassoon, trumpet, flute, horn, organ.
