Weakness/Remedies

The following weaknesses were conspicuous in the candidates' Scripts:
(I) Misinterpretation of the requirements of questions
Questions were wrongly interpreted, especially question 1, which was largely executed as a painting, without the appropriate caption, and question 3, which was mostly executed without the specified border design.
(2) Poor construction of letters and illegible captions
The lettering for the posters was poorly constructed and in most cases, captions were quite illegible.
(3) Inappropriate application of colours, tones and perspective
Colours were wrongly combined as the principle of harmony was disregarded, and tones were limited. In addition, perspective was wrongly applied in most cases.
The aforementioned inadequacies can effectively be addressed if candidates prepare suffuciently for the examination by:
(1) Practicing constantly under the tutelage of qualified and proficient art teachers or professionals.
(2) Visiting art exhibitions in order to get exposure to quality artworks.
(3) Visiting higher institutions to interact with art students. This is capable of inspiring them to excellence in their own artistic activities.
