The following materials are supplied:
(a) one piece of mild steel sheet 150 mm x 100 mm x 3 mm;
(b) one piece of mild steel square pipe 500 mm x 25 mm x 25 mm;
(c) one tie-on label;
The diagrams below show parts, views and the assembly of an electrode stand. Fabricate the electrode stand using the materials supplied.
Observation
Most of the candidates performed very well in cutting the parts but the parts were not properly welded and most workpieces were poorly finished. Also, some candidates did intermittent welding instead of full welding of parts. Emphasis should be laid on welding symbols during practical classes.
