The question was broken down into sections requiring different activities. The students were expected to construct a model of a bathroom rack.

2 SOCKETS
4 sides of sockets
2 bottoms of sockets
Fitness of joints

• Stopped bareface mortise
• Tenon joints
• Marking – out joints
• Mortises
• Grooving
• Shapping
• Fitting plywood bottom
• Assembling
• Squareness

Observation

 

 

Many of the students were unable to cut the tails properly.

Some candidates found it difficult to make the sockets for the tails

Many candidates failed to make the bare faced mortise and tenon, this seem to be their inability to read the drawing.

Most candidates did poor grooving and this seems to be because they did not use the proper tools.
