(b)Outline two importance of isolation in controlling communicable diseases. [2 marks]

(c) Give four examples of air-borne diseases [4 marks]

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was fair. In Question 2(a) majority of candidates were able to define hormones it. In Question 2(b) many candidates focused on writing general preventive measures for communicable diseases. Most of the candidates answered questions in Question 2(c) correctly.

(a) Hormones
Are organic chemical substances produced by endocrine glands in small quantities directly into blood; to stimulate specific action/named

(b) Importance of isolation in controlling communicable diseases

  • It prevents the spread of disease;
  • It reduces cost of treatment;
  • It helps localize infection;
  • It reduces mortality rate.
