Observation

This question was attempted by few candidates and their performance was poor. They could not answer it correctly as many wrote off points. Some candidates were giving wrong responses such as seeking behavioural support, drink more water and juice, ban the selling of cigarettes etc.

Ways of discouraging people from smoking

• Parents should set good examples of not smoking for their children/good parental guidance
• Heavy taxation on cigarette companies
• Every packet of cigarette should bear a clear warning of the dangers of smoking
• Government should discourage the establishment of new cigarette factories
• People should be educated on the dangers of cigarette smoking
• Laws banning smoking in public places should be enforced
• Promulgating/enacting of laws preventing sale of cigarettes to persons under 18 years
