Observation

 

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was fair.  In part (a)(i)  candidates could not correctly explain the term first aid,  in (a)(ii) candidates correctly list items that can be found in a first aid box, few candidates wrongly mentioned injection powder, theatre, ambulance, nurses, x-ray and pharmacy.  In part (b) candidates could not correctly state objectives of adapted physical education progamme.

However, the expected answers were as follows:

6 (a) (i)  Explanation first aid

  •    the immediate and temporary assistance/help
  •    give to a victim of accident/sudden illness
  •    before the attention of a qualified doctor/physician/ambulance before transportation to the hospital

 

   (ii)     Items that can be found in a first aid box
           

  •    scissors/razor blade
  •    bandage
  •    methylated spirit
  •    embrocation/named
  •    cotton wool
  •    gauze
  •    iodine
  •    plaster
  •    analgesic/named
  •    splints
  •    antiseptic soap
  •    safety pin
  •    gloves

(b)        Objectives of adapted physical education programme

            -  provides a sense of belonging to the handicapped
-  fosters competitive spirit for the handicapped
-  provides the handicapped with opportunity to enjoy leisure hours/to recreate 

-   enables the handicapped to develop his talents/skills
-  provides opportunity for play and fun
-  for remedial/corrective/therapeutic purpose
-  for physical fitness of the handicapped
-  to enable the handicapped to realize and emphasize his potentialities.
