(b) State the function of the following

- alternator;
- cut-out.
Observation
This question did not pose much problem to the candidates except for part (b) of the question. The candidates could not provide the required response to part (b) of the question. The required response to this part is given below:
(b) Fuse - is a safety device fitted in an electrical circuit to protect it when there
is excessive current.
OR
- prevents fire outbreak in a circuit.
Alternator - charges the battery when the engine is on.
OR
- produces electricity when the engine is running.
Cut-out - prevents the alternator from overcharging the battery.
OR
- prevents the battery from discharging through the dynamo when the
engine speed is low.
