This question was one of difficult questions. Most of the candidates who attempted it perform poorly. The required responses to the various parts of the question are:
7 (a) Quality Control is a measure by which an organization specifies product/services
standards and uses that as basis for checking product quality.
(b) Ways of improving the quality of products
- Create and publish to all employees a statement of the aims and purposes of the company or organization.
- Adopt a philosophy of preventing poor quality product and service.
- Understand the role of inspection in quality control and improve product and service design.
- Implement a system of continuous improvement processes.
- Provide employees’ training that teaches the skills required for continuous improvement.
- Set up quality control units.
- Drive out fear by creating a culture of innovation and trust.
- Come up with policies and philosophy that will discourage short cut in production processes.
- Improve employee’s pride by eliminating barriers to good workmanship.
- Encourage education and improvement for the staff.
- Used available current technology to facilitate products manufacturing and the delivery of services.
- Encourage use of quality tools e.g. pareto rules, check list and control checks.
- Encourage right attitude towards work.
- Set up quality control committee to supervise activities in the production unit.
