Candidate's Weakness and Remedies
A SUMMARY OF CANDIDATE’S WEAKNESSES
It was observed that the majority of the candidates failed to:
- dimensioning their drawings;
- constructing geometrically the semi-circular arch;
- drawing to a specified scale.
To overcome these weaknesses, candidates should be well grounded in the rudiments of technical drawing which includes:
- the subject teacher should help the students acquire and develop skills in the
art of dimensioning by posting a chart illustrating various dimensioning techniques in a conspicuous place in their drawing studio, giving them frequent graded drawing assignments or projects involving dimensioning and enforcing students possession of the recommended technical or architectural drawing textbooks.
- The students should be well grounded in the rudiments of technical drawing
which includes; geometrical construction of lines, arcs, circles, triangles and
polygons.
- The students should be helped to become well conversant with the scale rules
used for producing drawings, such as the Architects scale or Engineering scale. They should have in-depth understanding of the appropriate scale used to produce various views of a building.
