Question 1
(a) State three ways by which excavated spoils are disposed off on a building site:
(b) (i) Use figure 1 to explain how the right-angled corner at B can be established using 3:4:5 method.
(ii) Sketch the isometric view of a corner profile.
(c) State the specific use of the respirator on a construction site
Observation
(a) Ways by which excavated spoils are disposed off on a building site are:
- used for trench backfilling;
- stored in spoil heaps at pre-defined areas on site for future use;
- removed from site to other destination for later use;
- spread out for landscaping/gardening.
(b) (i) How the right-angled corner at Bean be established:
- Establish peg A and measure the given distance to establish B using 3 units
- Measure line BC in 4 units to the required distance
- Measure line CA in 5 units
- Check lines AB and BC using builder’s square to obtain 90 degrees corner.
