Question 9
1 Peter 5:1 – 11
- Peter’s teaching on inter-personal relationship
- Factors that may cause conflict among people.
Observation
This question was not popular with the candidates. Those that attempted it wrote off point because they expressed their own personal views and ideas as against how Peter presented it. To this end, they scored poor marks. The essential points they ought to have mentioned were:
- Peter exhorted elders of the church to tend the flock willingly and not by constraint.
- The elders were to care for the flock not for any gain but eagerly.
- They were not to be domineering over those in their charge.
- Instead, they were to set good examples for the flock to emulate.
- He also admonished the younger ones in the church to be subject to the elders.
- According to Peter, Christians should clothe themselves with humility towards one another.
- Because God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.
- Peter encouraged Christians to endure suffering in such a way that the grace of God would be manifested in their lives.
- He said that, Christian suffering would last only for a while but the glory in Christ would be eternal.
