Observation
This question was unpopular among the candidates as it attracted only a few candidates. It was noticed that out of the candidates that attempted this question, many of them could not trace correctly the actual event which led to this incident. Candidates were expected to understand the activities that surround the life of Jesus Christ and how one can draw moral lessons from Christ's experiences. Of all the Synoptic Gospel, only Mark recorded this incident and it happened shortly after Christ was arrested following His betrayal by Judas Iscariot just as outlined below;
i. They seized Jesus and a disciple cut the ear of the high priest's servant.
ii. Jesus asked if they took him for a bandit/ robber, that they had come with swords and cudgels to arrest him.
iii. Jesus asked them why they did not arrest Him as He taught daily in the synagogues (the scriptures needed to be fulfilled).
iv. All the disciples deserted Him and fled.
v. Among those following was a young man with nothing on but a linen cloth.
vi. They tried to seize him, but he slipped out of the linen cloth and run away naked.
vii. After this, Jesus was led to the high priest's house.
viii. Mark alone preserved this story, suggesting that the writer was an eye-witness, the author of the gospel according to Mark.
In the (b) Part, candidates were able give right answers to the question which helped to boost the scores of candidates who did not perform too well in the (a) part. candidates performed better in the (b) part than in the (a)part. On the average, candidate performed poorly in this question.
