Majority of candidates who attempted this question got it wrong. The candidates could not give the meaning of the terms check-in, reservation, forecast and walk-in. The expected answers are as follows:
Check-in:
The process of greeting and registering a guest, verifying the method of payment and dispensing room keys.
Reservation:
Order/arrangement made for any service in the hospitality industry to be used at a later time/advance booking.
Forecast:
A projection/prediction of future patronage in any service in the hospitality industry.
Walk-in:
A guest who arrives in a hotel without reservation/advance booking.
In questions 3 (c), candidates answered wrongly and scored low marks.
