Explain five impediments to the rights of individuals and groups in the
society.
Observation
This question attracted lots of candidates and the performance of most candidates who answered it was good. However, performance was not generally good because their answers lack depth. Below are the points expected to have been given by the candidates.
Impediments to the rights of individuals and groups in the society
- Emergency situations
- Security of the state/national security
- Immunity clause
- National disasters e.g. climate change, earthquake, flood, famine, drought, etc.
- Outbreak of epidemic and pandemic diseases e.g. Covid-19, HIV/AIDS, etc.
- Extra judicial actions/brutality of law enforcement agents
- Violence e.g. kidnapping, ritual killings, rape, armed robbery, etc.
- Tribunals/Special courts
