Observation

This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance in this question was good. They were able to interpret the questions and give points. Additional points candidates missed out are:

(a) Reasons eligible voters may decide not to vote in a general election

1. Election rigging/malpractices
2. Political/fear of electoral violence/insecurity
3. Unfulfilled political promises by political leaders
4. Lack of confidence in the political system
5. Cultural and religious values considerations
6. Improper perception of politics
7. Biased electoral umpire
8. Bad governance
9. Lack of confidence in candidates/parties contesting election
10. Negative campaign by candidates/ political parties
11. Voters’ perception that their votes will not count

(b) Ways National Orientation Agency (NOA) can increase voters participation in        general elections

1. Ensuring public enlightenment on the significance of voting in general elections
2. Ensuring/promoting the conduct of free, fair and credible election
3. Canvassing for adequate security before, during and after election
4. Sensitization of Nigerians about the requirement and benefits of the existence of an independent corruption free electoral commission
5. Cultivating civic values in the citizens
6. Educating Nigerians about one man one vote
7. Sensitizing politicians/elected candidates on the need to fulfill electoral promises/delivery of dividends of democracy to the people
8. Election monitoring
