In 5(b), there was a mix up in the responses of candidates on stitches used for fixing the hem of a pair of trouser and fishing the edge of a facing. They were expected to write herringbone stitch, zig zag stitch, slip hemming stitch, fine hemming stich and machine stitch, catch stitch and machine stitch/ back stitch.
In 5(c), they responded correctly to (i) and (ii) but could not explain why one should hold a fabric taut when sewing with a needle in (iii).they were expected to when the fabric is held taut, it prevents puckering, it helps to make fine stitching.
