Candidates were required to
- (i) Outline four steps to follow in order to prepare pattern pieces for cutting out during WASSCE Clothing and Textiles Practical Examination.
(ii) Draw pattern symbols that will help the candidate to lay out pattern pieces correctly on the fabric.
- Sketch the front view of a blouse and indicate the following features:
- bishop sleeve;
- patched pocket;
- mandarin collar;
- scalloped hem.
OBSERVATION:
In question a(i), candidates could not answer correctly the steps to follow in order to prepare pieces for cutting out. The expected answers are: read instructions, study pattern pieces, separate/cut pattern pieces, consider the direction of grain, study the pattern symbols/markings, make a rough lay out. In questions a(ii) candidates where able to draw correctly the symbols that will help to lay out pattern pieces on the fabrics. In questions b, candidates could not sketch correctly.
