Candidates' Weakness
Candidates’ weaknesses were observed as follow:
- Expression in simple and clear language;
- Differentiate between the following with the aid of a well labelled diagram: bishop sleeve and puff sleeve; gored skirt and panelled skirt;
- Differentiate between tucks and box pleats;
- State differences between easing and shirring;
- Explain why cotton and linen fabrics are given crease resistance finish.
To overcome these weaknesses,
- Teachers should always practicalize whatever topic taught so that students will be able to understand better and participate;
- Candidates should learn the terminologies of clothing and textiles;
- Candidates should be made to produce sample articles on each topic taught.
- Candidates should always practice how to sketch or draw in clothing practical class.
