Observation

The passage was interesting and offered a subject matter that was within the experience and grasp of the candidates. The information required for answering content questions correctly was very clear in the passage. There was a marked improvement in the responses of candidates. However, some of the candidates still demonstrated their lack of understanding of the passage as they copied verbatim from the passage to answer the questions. Questions 6d-f which required the candidate to infer the answers from the passage was poorly attempted by most candidates.  Some of them could not identify the grammatical name and grammatical function of the expression. A few of them could also not identify the figure of speech – simile.
