Find, correct to one decimal place, the magnitude and direction of the resultant
force.
Observation
The Chief Examiner reported that the Candidates’ exhibited inadequate knowledge in
representing of vector (force) in diagram and hence interchanged the components in
the course of resolution. They were expected to draw the diagram:
Resolving vertically we have, 18cos300 – 25 = -9.4115 N
Resolving horizontally, we have 10 – 18cos600 = 10 – 9 = 1 N
