Observation
This was a compulsory question attempted by almost all candidates who took the examination. They performed averagely as most candidates properly reduced the required map and inserted River Balaje, Marabu settlement and MALOPA Hill. However, quite a good proportion of the candidates were unable to properly describe the relief of the mapped area. The required points included:
- the northwestern part of the map is made up of highlands;
- there are isolated peaks in the central and south eastern part of the mapped area;
- there are knolls and inserbergs in the mapped area;
- the highest point in the map is in the north western part of the map;
- the northeastern part of the map has the lowest elevation;
- the relief of the northeast is generally undulating;
- the lowest point is 950ft;
- the highest point on the map is 2800ft;
- some of the valleys are narrow and deep;
- the northwestern part of the map is dissected;
- some of the isolated hills are conical in shape.
The land use types in the mapped area were properly identified by most of the candidates who attempted the question.
