This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was good. In part (a) many candidates correctly identified the devices illustrated in the diagrams X, Y and Z although, a few mistook diagram Y for a diaphragm. In part (b) candidates correctly mentioned the parts of the body where the devices illustrated X and Z are fixed before use. In part(c) many candidates could not correctly stated precautions to be taken while fixing the device illustrated Z, they wrote wrong answers such as make sure it is not expired, make sure it is used properly and do not turn upside down.
The expected answers are as follows:

X - intra uterine device/IUD/coil/loop
Y - female condom
Z - male condom
(b) Parts where diagrams X and Z are fixed in humans
X - vagina
Z - penis
(c) Precautions to be taken while fixing the device illustrated in Z
avoid air suck/make sure no air in device before fixing
hand must not be contaminated
there must be erection of penis before fixing it. |
