CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES
The candidates’ weaknesses include their inability to:
- express themselves in simple sentences
- answer a question on a fresh page
- write legibly/poor handwriting
- interpret the questions asked .
- identify type of injury shown in the diagram
- mention the bone injured as shown in the diagram
- suggest measures to correct the posture in diagram B
- state functions each of the parts labelled III and VI
- describe the shape of the parts labelled IV and V in the alimentary canal and its associated organs in humans.
- state the significance of the shape described in 2(b)(ii)
- name the parts labelled I,II,III,IV,V and VI
- name the part of the human body the thoracic is located
- mention instruments used in auditory screening.
- explain artificial insemination and test tube baby as terms in health
- state ways of preventing atherosclerosis
- state health effects of over-eating
- explain metabolism and absorption as terms in digestion
- state roles of an orthopaedic unit - explain nutrition and exercise as determinant of correct posture
The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:
- qualified English teachers should be employed for effective teaching of English Language in schools.
- parent should organize extra coaching class for their wards
- teachers should improve on their methods of teaching with the use of teaching aids/diagrams.
- students should read with textbooks and dictionary when reading
- handwriting should be taught in schools
- health education should be placed on vantage position in the school curriculum
- students should be taught by their teachers how to answer a question on a fresh page.
- teachers should pay more attention to students spellings mistakes during checking of their notes.
