Observation
Many candidates attempted this question and their performance was good. In part (a) many candidates could correctly highlight four rights of a consumer. In part (b) many candidates were able to mention ways of preventing infectious diseases.

(a) RIGHTS OF A CONSUMER
- right to choose from variety of goods
- right to be heard when one is not satisfied
- right to be informed and protected
- right to report the sales of sub-standard goods
- right to consumer education
- right to safety
- right to know manufacturing/expiry date
- right to seek redress
(b) WAYS OF PREVENTING INFECTIOUS DISEASES
- maintenance of good personal hygiene
- isolation of infected person
- keeping the environment clean always
- routine medical check-up
- avoidance of indiscriminate sexual intercourse
- washing hands after visitation to toilet
- education of people through mass media/public enlightenment campaign
- avoidance of sharing objects/materials with infected person e.g. syringe and needles, comb, blade e.t.c.
