Observation

The candidates who performed well in this question were able to name the method of First Aid administration in the diagram but majority could not describe the procedure as expected.

A few candidates were able to state the advantage of the illustrated method of First Aid administration.

The expected answers are:

1. Method used in the illustrated diagram
   • - Mouth-to-mouth method/kiss of life


2. Description of the procedure used in resuscitating
   • - place the victim on the side and clear his/her mouth
   • - loosen clothing around the neck and chest to ensure free passage of air into the lungs
   • - turn the victim on his/her back/supine
   • - extend the neck and push the lower jaw forward /open victim’s mouth
   • - pinch the nostrils
   • - breathe in deeply
   • - form a tight seal over the mouth of the victim with your mouth/ perform mouth -to- mouth.
   • - exhale into the mouth of the victim until the chest rises
   • - release your mouth and allow the victim to exhale
   • - repeat severally until the victim is resuscitated.

   • - It provides artificial respiration
   • - It saves life
