Examine the roles which geography had played to influence the History of ethnic groups in Nigeria before 1800.

This question appeared to be fairly popular but recorded very poor performance as candidates could hardly point out aspects of geography and how they affect people in their different places and locations.  Their response to the question was too peripheral and this made them to score low marks.  They were expected to examine the following points among others.

1. rivers had provided avenues for trade and social intercourse among the various groups of people in Nigeria;
2. Geography had been a major factor in the distribution of occupations, location of industries and market centres;
3. it had determined the type of warfare in different areas of settlement;
4. it had a powerful influence on social engagement of the people, the type of food they ate, their mode of dressing, etc;
5. the climate had dictated agricultural activities of the people; etc.
