This was also a popular question and was fairly answered by the candidates. Most candidates        who answered this question identified the political parties but many candidate listed current political parties and political parties in other dispensations. (b) a few candidate responded appropriately but a few discussed the general achievement of the military administration in Nigeria. The following points were expected to be listed and stated by candidates to get good marks.
           
(a)       

(i)   Great Nigeria People’s Party (GNPP).
(ii)  National Party of Nigeria (NPN).
(iii)  Nigeria People’s Party (NPP).
(iv) People’s Redemption Party (PRP).
(v) Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN).

(b)       

(i) The Murtala/Obasanjo regime created seven new states.
(ii)  It cancelled the 1973 controversial census figures.
(iii)  It lifted the ban on political parties in 1978.
(iv) It also set up the Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO).
(v) It conducted local government elections in 1979.
(vi) It returned Nigeria to civilian rule in 1979.
(vii)  Launched the Universal Primary Education Programme.
(viii) It set up additional Universities and Colleges of Education.
(x) New Constitution which brought about presidential system of government was introduced.
