Most candidates related the prevention of poisoning to foods and the kitchen alone and lost some marks.
Signs and symptoms of poisoning was fairly well attempted.

- All medicines/drugs should be kept away from children
- All beauty care products such as perfumes, deodorants, lotion etc must be kept out of reach of children.
- Cleaning liquids must not be stored in soft drink bottle.
- Kerosene, Petrol, Lighter fuel, Methylated spirit and other poisonous chemicals should not be kept where they can be mistaken for water/proper storage.
- Do not buy and use camphor that are shaped and coloured like sweet;
- Be careful with poisonous garden plants and flowers. Be sure of the ones planted;
- Do not eat spoilt food;
- Wash hands thoroughly after using cosmetics and other chemicals;
- Items should be properly labeled.

- Burns around the mouth
- Tongue getting dark and swollen
- Excessive saliva
- Crying in agony
- Severe stomach pains (may be holding the stomach)
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Allergic reactions e.g. Cough, Sneezing, hives, watery eyes
- Fever
