A.        Candidates were asked to explain the proverb ‘Ọhịa Na-asọ Nkata Epukwana Ero’ and illustrate it with short stories. None of those that attempted this question able to explain the meaning but the stories written buttressed the meaning.

            B.        This is an informal letter. Candidates were asked to write to their friends in another school, telling/ giving them reasons why they should change to their own   school. Most of the expected answers from the marking scheme were highlighted by the candidates. The proper letter format was observed also.

            C.        Candidates were asked to write on the topic ‘Ezumike Ekeresimesi M gara N’obodo M’ meaning the Christmas holiday I embarked on in my town. Most  candidates failed to state the name of their towns, the preparation they made before going and how they got ready to come back.

The few that wrote on this could not write up to the expected length of 300 words. Some mentioned the person’s name but couldnotdescribe his /her features or where he/she hails from.

E. This is an argumentative essay on ‘The failure of students in examination is the fault  of the teachers than that of the candidates’. Those that blamed the student were able to    identify some attitudes of students that aid their failure.
