Question 3
Outline the lessons in Hadith 16 of an-Nawawī
Observation
The candidates who chose this question, from their responses, knew the theme of the Hadith which centers on avoidance of anger but were unable to point out its lessons. The lessons expected of the candidates include seeking advice from Islamic scholars to avoid going astray, the need to control one’s anger, inability to control one’s anger makes one fall from grace to grass, anger makes one act unjustly or harshly to others and anger is the handiwork of Shaytan (devil) from whom one should desist. The question appeared simple for most of the candidates that attempted it while a few of them mistook the Hadith for another one which is also on anger. Despite that, their general performance was still good.
