Observation

The question was popularly answered by most of the candidates and they performed         well. The question requested the candidates to give the criteria for authenticating Matn:

• this has to do with the content of Hadith.
• they are expected to say such as, matn must not go against the law of nature etc.
• it must not also praise a group of people or individual
• it must not give the time and date of future events in precision
• any hadith that predicts the precise Day of the Judgment should be rejected
• matn of ahadith with unknown transmitters are not authentic
• it must not sanction very severe punishments for slightest faults nor promise high rewards for small virtues
• the matn of a sound Hadith should not be against the dictates of reasoning and common experience.
