(a)        What are shoe bottoming materials?
      (b)        Highlight the sequential order of shoe  bottoming.
      (c)         Highlight the sequential order of  sole attachment.
Observation
In this question, candidates were  able to provide the meaning of shoe  bottoming materials in the (a) part. However, most of  them wrongly gave the sequential order  of shoe bottoming, which is expected in the (b) part,  as the answer to the (c) part of the question. Overall  performance in this question was poor.
  
Candidates were expected to provide the following answers to score maximum marks in this question.
(a) These are materials used in shoe production, found below the upper which includes welt, insole, outsole, shank etc. They are meant to ensure the comfortability and durability of the shoe.
(b)         (i)       Tape the last bottom.
    (ii)      Trim the taped last bottom.
    (iii)     Remove the insole pattern.
    (iv)     Place the cardboard and cut out.
    (v)      Add allowance and cut sole pattern.
(c)         (i)       Roughen both  surfaces of the outsole and the lasted upper  (sole).
    (ii)      Clean the surfaces.
    (iii)     Apply chemical gum on both surfaces.
    (iv)     Activate the chemical gum using heat for  the surfaces.
    (v)      Attach the sole to the lasted upper or outsole.
    (vi)     Mount the shoe on the sole attaching  machine or manually by using pressure.
