Most candidates were able to identify the object drawn correctly in the (a) part of the question. A good number were also able to list two materials that can be used in making the object drawn in the (b) part, however, some of them wrote inaccurate answers by listing e.g. paper, clay etc. Most candidates misinterpreted the (c) part and described the process of shoe production instead of a step-by-step explanation of the process of pattern production for footwear.
The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to obtain the maximum marks.
(a) Shoe last.
(b) (i) Wood;
(ii) Rubber;
(iii) Plastic;
(iv) Metal.
(c) (i) Select the right size of last and tape;
(ii) Mark the centre lines;
(iii) Draw out the design on the laid masking tape;
(iv) Cut the laid masking tapes into sections;
(v) Remove the cut out design from the last;
(vi) Paste the sections on a cardboard;
(vii) Trace and cut out the pattern giving allowance of 2mm on the cardboard.
