The following points are relevant:
(1) The structure of the poem – three uneven stanzas with each developing the theme of poverty; the last and longest stanza presents the poet’s attitude towards whom the society has impoverished and his determination to punish the culprits;
- The poet’s opening statement on the plight of the peasants- miserable, vulnerable and rain-battered;
(3) The image produced by the contrast between the rich and the poor presented in the poem.
(4) The neglected rice pads of the country which deepen the misery of the peasants;
(5) The determination of the poet to get rid of the corrupt politicians and eventually sanitize the society; etc.
