This was also an unpopular question. Candidates were expected to show Walter’s maturity from his idealistic views, failed business and eventual transformation ‘into his manhood’; rather, they discussed the Younger family in general.

The following points were expected from the candidates:

* Mama’s initial role as the head of the family- always putting her foot down.

* Walter’s general attitude to life, his aspirations and also his failure to discuss with Ruth her decision to have an abortion.

* George’s description of Walter in reaction to Walter’s rudeness to him as well as Walter‘s absenting himself from work and losing the money Mama entrusts to him.

* Walter’s final coming out on top of the situation and proving himself by resisting the bid to keep the family out of Clybourne Park.

* Mama’s approval of Walter’s transformation.

Candidates’ performance in this question was fair.
