Most candidates attempted this question. The candidates were expected to provide the following answers in order to score good marks:

(a) - A darkroom is a light-tight space where photographic films and prints are processed/processing of light–sensitive photo materials is carried out in the darkroom.
-    In traditional photography the darkroom is the photographer’s workshop.
-    It is a special place/space where light is controlled.
-   It comprises both wet and dry areas.
-  Some basic equipment in the darkroom include enlarger, developing tank, trays, chemicals, etc.

(b)  -   Avoid spillage of water/or other liquid on the floor to prevent slipping, in case there
is any, it should be mopped immediately.
-     Bottles and containers should be appropriately labelled.
-     Always wear an apron while working, in case there is spillage of chemicals.
-     Always wear nose masks when working with/mixing chemicals.
-     Ensure no ray of light comes into the darkroom to prevent fogging of light sensitive materials.
-     Ensure good ventilation.
-     Put on/wear hand gloves when working with chemicals.
-     Avoid food items in the darkroom.
-     Wear goggles to protect the eyes when working with chemicals.
-     Ensure availability of safety gadgets such as first aid box and fire extinguisher.
-    Strictly adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions on the material/equipment.
-    Separate wet and dry areas must be maintained.
