Observation

The question required from the candidates to list any fifteen items found in the  darkroom processing and state any five activities in processing black and white negatives and prints in the darkroom. The candidates performance was average. The candidates were expected to write the following points as answers to the question:
(a)   -     Air conditioner;
    -     scissors;
-     washing/developing/processing trays;
-     blotters/drying materials/hand towel/foam/sponge;
-     safe light;
-     safe light filter;

• chemical solutions/reagents/or any of the following:  fixer, developer,

stop bath;

• measuring cylinder;
• timer;
• washing siphon/siphoning tube;
• squeegee/film wipers; 
• magnifying glass;
•  tongs;
• clips/pegs;
• hangers;
• film reels/film sprocket;
• developing tank;
• hand gloves;
• funnel;
• storage bottles/keg;
• thermometers;
• mixing bowl;
• sink;
• nose mask/cover;
• mixing rod;
• apron;
• goggle/safety eye wear.

(b)-        Chemical preparation
-           Developing the film
-           Application of stop bath
-           Rinsing the negative (film) in running water
-           Drying the film
-           Storing of negatives
-           Pre film soaking
-           Placing the negative in Enlarger’s negative carrier
-           Exposing the negative on the photographic paper
-           Making the image sharp on the enlarger
-           Processing the exposed paper in the chemicals (developer, fixer, stop
bath)
-           Drying the print
-           Trimming the print
