This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was poor. In part (a) many candidates correctly state benefits that can be derived from performing gymnastics activities. In part (b)(i), many candidates could not correctly define progression in gymnastics and in (b)(ii) many candidates could not also correctly state safety measures when performing the through vault in gymnastics. In part (c) many candidates could not correctly explain vaulting and somersault as terms used in gymnastics. In part (d) candiates could not correctly explain the steps involved in performing astride vault in gymnastics.
However, the expected answers were as follows:
