The candidates’ weaknesses include their inability to:
- express themselves in simple English.
- read extensively and cover the syllabus.
- write correct spellings of the subject (Physical Education).
- understand and explain subject terminologies appropriately.
- write legibly/poor handwriting.
- mention events in athletics for which the equipment could be used.
- state methods of take-over for which the equipment could be used for during an athletic meet.
- state techniques in hurdle race.
- state duties of the field judge and clerk of the course.
- state rules guiding pole vault event in athletics.
- state the procedure for resolving a ties in pole vault event in athletics.
- name officials needed during javelin event.
- state the steps involved in performing backward roll in gymnastics.
- state characteristics of somersault in gymnastics.
The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:
- students should read textbooks and also communicate in English Language especially in the school.
- students should read extensively and cover syllabus.
- spellings should be thoroughly monitored by the subject teacher.
- teacher should explain terminologies of the subject in a clear manner to students.
- handwriting should be taught and monitored during class lesson.
