(3)       (a)        Sketch  each of the following fittings used  in plumbing work:
(i)         quarter  bend;
(ii)        sweep  tee;
(iii)       hexagonal  nipple.
            
(b)        Sketch each of the following hand tools:
(i)         try  square;
(ii)        spirit  level.
(c)        State the functions of the following  oxyacetylene welding components:
      (i)          blowpipe;
      (ii)       nozzle tip.
Observation
Some of the candidates made wrong sketches, while others made very poor sketches. The required responses to these questions are as follows.
(c)        (i)         The  function of a blowpipe is to bring together correct volume of oxygen 
    and  acetylene, mix them thoroughly and pass them through the nozzle.
    (ii)        The nozzle tip issues out the gas  mixture before it is ignited to give the desired flame.
    (iii)       The nozzle tip is adjusted to produce  required flame to meet the welding process.
