The candidates’ performance showed that a lot of them were ill prepared, lacked access to good instructional materials and drawing instruments, have not taken advantage of real life engineering events around them (e.g observing ongoing projects, visit to workshops etc.). They also showed marked weaknesses in the use of scale/measurements, of symbols etc. Some did not know the difference between 1st and 3rd angle projection.
Candidates should be taught drawing from the first principle and encouraged to cover the syllabus widely. In addition, candidates should be encouraged to interact with engineering/building projects and materials around them and try to represent them graphically.
