The question was attempted by many candidates and they performed well generally. However, some candidates could not define festival and state the ways a community can benefit from festivals as a tourist attraction.

A festival is a celebration of events by showcasing some unique socio-cultural and religious features of the community to mark one or more of the following: coronation, royal burial, sacrifices, new planting season etc .

The ways in which a community can benefit from a festival as a tourist attraction are:

- attract tourist

- improves the images of the destination

- supports local economy

- promotion of culture

- infrastructural development

- promotes cottage industries

- establishment of tourism enterprises

- employment
