Observation

Candidates that attempted this question did not treat the collage as expected. In most cases the collage was used only to depict the hawker and the background was left bare without using collage or colour. Candidates performed averagely. The candidates were expected to answer in the following way:

 

A. DRAWING              

1. Effective drawing of street hawkers, customers and objects in the street.            
2. Appropriate use of proportions and perspective in a suitable background.

 

B. COMPOSITION      
(i) Skillful arrangement of all elements in the composition.                                       
(ii) Representation of appropriate mood in the setting.                                                 

(iii) Judicious use of space (at least three quarters of available space).     

                      

C. COLOUR                 

(i)  Choice of colours that contrast and harmonize.                                                        

(ii)  Effective mixture, application and distribution of colours.                                    

(iii)  Ability to show tones, texture and direction of lights on all the elements.   

        

D.  INTERPRETATION          

(i)  Correct and pleasing representation of the theme.   

                                              

E.  ORIGINALITY                   

  (i)  Personalized style in the composition and overall effect.
