Question 1
Design and produce a flower vase to be used in a reception room. Decorate the vase with African traditional motifs. The finished ware should be fired.
Height: 30cm.
Observation
A unique question which was attempted by a few candidates averagely. They were expected to respond to the question thus:
1. DESIGN:
(i) Should be unique in shape, form and surface decoration.
(ii) Should include African traditional motif.
2. EXECUTION/PROFICIENCY:
(i) Skillful production of the flower vase showing correct form and shape.
(ii) Effective surface decoration on the flower vase.
(iii) Appropriate finishing and firing.
3. COLOUR/FORM:
(i) Proper handling of firing processes.
(ii) Overall production of beautiful colouring effect.
4. SUITABILITY:
(i) Should be functional and attractive as a flower vase.
5. ORIGINALITY:
(i) Uniqueness in form and shape.

(i) Clear and comprehensive notes.
(ii) Diagrams, working drawings and sketches.
