Candidates' Weakness and Suggested Remedies
Candidates’ weaknesses include:
(1)       Inability to write extensively on the  chosen essay topics as some candidates wrote far below the required 300 words;
      (2)       Inability to approach argumentative essay  properly. They did not balance their arguments;
      (3)       Improper  use of punctuation marks;
      (4)       Lack  of in-depth knowledge on the use of tone-marks;
      (5)       Inability  to write good Yoruba and correct spellings of terms;
      (6)       Lack  of in-depth knowledge of some recommended textbooks;
      (7)       Lack  of in-depth knowledge or poor background in phonology;
      (8)       Carelessness  as regards the use of Modern Yoruba Orthography;
      (9)       Illegible  handwriting;
      (10)     Inability to indicate the question numbers  attempted and in some cases they were wrongly written.  
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
(1)       The use of Yoruba as a means of  communication should be encouraged;
      (2)       Candidates should prepare and equip  themselves well with the knowledge and correct use of punctuation marks;
      (3)       Students should be encouraged to buy the  recommended textbooks;
      (4)       Candidates should imbibe the habit of  studying the set texts thoroughly.
      (5)       Teachers should give special attention to  these identified candidates’ weaknesses in their teaching.
