OBSERVATION

This question was poorly responded to by most of the candidates. The expected responses to the various parts of the question are:

J is cross member, front axle or sub-frame
K is damper or shock absorber
L is upper wishbone or upper arm
M is stub axle
N is coil spring or spring.

(c) The purpose of the independent front suspension is to ensure that the deflection of one front wheel does not affect the other thereby giving the occupants smooth and comfortable ride.

K is a device fitted to absorb the energy stored in the spring thus reducing spring oscillation.
N is a device fitted to allow for the up and down movement of the chassis-frame so as to reduce road shocks to the frame and occupants.
