Candidates' Strength

The candidates manifested the following weaknesses:

  •    Poor spelling of labels and technical terms;
  •    Poor knowledge of classification;
  •    Inability to relate structures to their functions;
  •    Inability to state an experiment in a sequential manner;
  •    Inability to state necessary precautions needed in carrying out experiments;
  •    Using plural of names for a single guideline in labeling;

The following remedies were proffered to overcome these weaknesses:

  •  Science teacher should endeavour to acquaint students with basic science equipment;
  • Practical classes should be carried out regularly Biology should not be taught as an abstract subject;
  • Students should be taken on field trips to enable them observe organisms in their natural habitats;
  • Government should ensure that all approved science tutorial classes for external candidates  must have standard laboratories
