-           distribution bars in a  suspended floor.

However, few candidates were unable to:
-           list the materials used as lintels in openings;
-           state functions of openings in walls.

1. Functions of a coping to free standing walls are:

-     To provide aesthetics/enhances the walls’ appearance.
-     Protect the top of walls from rain water/sheds off water.
-     It reduces the discoloration of the top of the wall.
-     It serves as a tie to stiffen the wall.

1. Functions of openings in walls are to:

-     accommodate doors for exit and entry;
-     accommodate windows for ventilation and illumination;
-     provide aesthetics (beauty) in building e.g. arch;
-     provide for external view.

1. Materials used as lintels in openings are:

-     Reinforced concrete;
-     Masonry;
-     Bricks;
-     Timber;
-     Steel.

1. Distribution bars help to resist and distribute thermal and lateral stresses and keep the main bar in position.
