THE FIRST CREATION STORY (GENESIS 1: 1-31)

Observation

This question was popular among candidates. Candidates did not have problem answering this question as they performed optimally in it especially in part b where candidates were able to state reasons why man is the crown of all creatures. In part a however, some candidates failed to present the chronological order of the creation story as the question demanded. Outline of the expected points are;

  1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
  2. The earth was without form and void and darkness engulfed it.
  3. The Spirit of God moved over the face of the waters.
  4. On the first day, light was created and was separated from darkness to form day and night.
  5. On the second day, the firmament/heavens were created.
  6. On the third day, land, sea and vegetation were created.
  7. God created the heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon and Stars) on the fourth day.
  8. . On the fifth day, sea animals and birds were created.
  9. . God finally created land animals on the sixth day.
  10. Subsequently, God created man in His own image and likeness and gave him dominion over all creatures.
  11. On the seventh day, God rested, and made it Holy.
